It has just flown by! I can't believe that we have been without a kitchen for over a month. It is going well. DH had some troubles with the wiring and has taken off a few pieces of drywall, but it feels like we are finally moving into the construction phase of the project instead of the destruction phase. DH also installed the hardware for a sliding pocket door and I have started finishing the drywall. Here is what it looks like so far...
I'm hoping that the project starts to speed up a little, but this is the last week of soccer, the jazz show was a success, the block party was a huge party and my little brownie and spark are on a break until next year. Here's to some free time in the evenings!
Hi Kim, Most interesting! The kitchen is next on our interior reno list. The current kitchen is circa 1980s with those horrible 'european' cabinets that have no handles. And the layout is terrible with no storage. We want to open it to the dining room with a half wall and counter and totally rearrange the layout. Where are you cooking now - basement or garage? How are the kids coping with staying out of the mess?
ReplyDeleteActually since we are doing most of the work ourselves, my husband has been really good about making sure the "kitchen" stays tidy. And it does help that the kids are old enough to stay out of mischief. The worst part has been washing dishes! Not as much fun doing them in the bathroom sink! And we've been eating out more than usual, eating macaroni and cheese more than usual (which the kids like) and generally trying to keep the cooking simple.
ReplyDeleteMy son would be okay with the mac and cheese every night. You're right about the dishes, that would not be fun. :)
